Issam al-Hajjar is an established and respected Syrian photographer and researcher. He won the Golden Prize at the European Arab Photography Festival in Hamburg, and has held many exhibitions in Damascus and other cities during the last 15 years. Issam has published two books – The Cultural Heritage of Damascus City, 2008 and The Natural Heritage of Damascus, 2010.
His virtual photo exhibition, Neither Red nor Grey, aims to present a different image of Syria. He uses bright, colour-coded photos to demonstrate that Syria features all colours, not just the red and grey that are prominent in photos of war.
